Main characteristics :

The apparatus should be able to:

• Apply a normal force onto a sample.
• Perform friction force, coefficient of friction measurements.

Technical specifications:

• Pin-on-disc/ball-on disc configuration.
• Force range should be between 1 to 30 N.
• The wish displacement is linear in order to adapt to most of the substrates but a rotative displacement could be adapted on the device.
• Coefficient of friction should be visualised in real time.
• Device should fullfill ASTM G 99.
• Device should be versatile in order to test several samples with different geometries.
• Sample holder should be adapted to several geometries.

Optional :

• Wear measurements could be performed
• It could be possible to coat the pin/balls in order to measure the coefficient of friction between the two same coatings.
• Others configurations could be adapted on the device: planar contact, cross cylinder…
• Rotational displacement
• Coefficient of friction could be measured with oil lubricant
