Mechanical tests

Recoll performs mechanical tests on all types of materials such as polymeric, composite, metallic, ceramic, wood and agglomerated materials… as well as on finished products (sandwich panels, medical devices,…). These tests can be carried out according to National and international standards (ISO, ASTM, EN,…), specifications and customer test methods (AITM, customer specifications,…).

We accompany our customers in their phases of R&D, qualification products, follow-up series in the sectors including aeronautics, energy, medical, rail.

We also offer:

  • The development of test methods
  • The design and manufacture of test tools
  • The preparation of test specimens including via: Manufacturing of composite plates, machining, non-destructive Testing (A-Scan and C-scan), instrumentation by strain gauges and deformation, bonding of heels, making of joints Bonded with the supply of substrates (steel, aluminium, glass, composite,…) as well as the preparation of surfaces (sandblasting, Plasma,…), equipment of test pieces in fittings,…, installation of anti-buckling systems (anti-buckling)

From a quality point of view on the tests, Recoll is:

  • Accredited COFRAC ISO 17025 and NADCAP
  • Qualified Airbus, SAFRAN, GE

With a fleet of about twenty test machines ranging from 0 to 1200 KN (120 tons), our mechanical testing department allows to carry out all the following tests *:

  • Smooth Traction, inhabited or unmanned hole
  • Smooth Compression, inhabited or unmanned hole
  • Plane Shear +/-45 °
  • Bending 3 and 4 points
  • Inter-laminar shear (They)
  • Single, double, quadruple shear on sandwich panels
  • Fur (moving rollers, climbing drum, 90 °, 180 °, Manual,…)
  • Perpendicular Traction
  • Matting/Bearing
  • Pull Through/Pull out
  • Tenacity/cracking monitoring (G1C, G2C, K1C)
  • Impact, CAI, TAI and BVID measures
  • Prob-Tack or tack to loop
  • Cleavage
  • Torsion (+/-140 °)
  • Rotation (unlimited number of laps)
  • Combined tests: Traction + torsion, Compression + twist

The test specimens can be instrumented with extensometers (mechanical, video, laser), LVDT stress gauges (high precision displacement sensor), acoustic emission sensors or a thermal camera.

These tests can be carried out by:

  • Temperature from-180 °c to + 500 °c (temperature + high on demand),
  • Humidity from 20% to 100% (possibility of combining with temperature)
  • Physiological Bath at 37 °c
  • Immersion in a liquid
  • After conditioning and/or ageing (see environmental tests)

The reports of the tests rendered include the following output data:

  • Force, stress, fracture distortion
  • Force, stress, maximum force distortion
  • Strength, stress, strain at the elastic limit
  • Force, constraint, Offset deformation (example RP02)
  • Force, constraint, distortion at any other point or event (matting, first rupture, a given distortion, a given constraint…)
  • Young, shear, traction/Compression Modules…
  • Fish coefficient, longitudinal and transversely deformation measure
  • File test points for reprocessing
  • Photograph of test specimens before, during and after tests
  • Photograph of the test fixture
  • Test Conditions (Standard, procedure, date, technician, customer specification, standard deviation, equipment used and last verification date…)
  • Video of the tests

The tests can be controlled by:

  • Force or moving from 0 to 50 Hz;
  • Phase or phase
  • Uni or multiaxial

These tests can be carried out by:

  • Temperature from-60 °c to + 500 °c,
  • Humidity from 20% to 100% (possibility of combining with temperature)
  • Physiological Bath at 37 °c
  • Immersion in a liquid
  • After conditioning and/or ageing (see environmental tests)

The test specimens can be instrumented with extensometers (mechanical, video, laser), strain gauges, acoustic emission sensors or a thermal camera.

Creep/Relaxation Tests
Learn More

The Creep tests we propose can be made from + 10 °c to + 50 °c and from 0 to 30 KN, this in compression, traction, shearing, bending ¾ points,….
Ability to measure deformation by LVDT (high precision displacement sensor).
Similarly, the relaxation tests are proposed in compression or traction; The test temperatures range from + 23 °c to + 200 °c and force: from 0 to 250 KN.
